This Labyrinth lived behind our offices and class rooms in Naples, Florida. The twists and turns that make the circles a labyrinth were added by my friend Victor. This is a simple 8 circle Celtic Labyrinth, and is about 27 feet from edge to edge. Each part of the path through the labyrinth is about 18 inches across, including the rocks. That leaves enough room to walk the path in single file, and with just a few people at once. When I laid the circles out, I had a clear circular area that was 27 and a half feet from edge to edge. That left just enough room to lay the circle out without cutting any trees or underbrush at all. The rocks were gathered from our yard. The pine needles fall from the trees.
Labyrinths are great. You cannot get to the center of one with as many cares as you entered with because you must concentrate on where you are putting your feet or you will fall over. In other words, you must leave your cares at the entrance!
We used this particular Labyrinth as part of our daily routine, and during our Reiki classes as a meditative place to relax. We look forward to creating a new one in our new location soon!
